QSI Awards 2014 Winners and Evening Events

This was the first year that Chauffeur Rentals had taken part as a sponsor of the QSI Awards.

The Awards highlight just how good the Chauffeuring Industry is and brings together the cream of the crop, all demonstrating how to do things well.

This year we saw more companies that are focusing on environmental fleets, and vehicles like the highly efficient Mercedes S300L Hybrid all winning awards.

The awards are also a great way to get a better insight into what other companies are doing and how they are helping others with their innovative ideas and approaches.

Capstar Chauffeurs for example, set up their Chauffeur Company in 2013, to provide new career opportunities to ex-servicemen that had been wounded. The company, founded by former Army officers Rob Bassett-Cross and Charlie Bowmont, has enjoyed great success and continues with their policy to employ only ex-military drivers and support team members.

The environmental Award went to eConnect who have the first ‘All Electric’ private hire fleet in london. I think we can all be sure we’ll be seeing more of their Nissan Leafs quietly going about their business as time goes on.

The story that touched all our hearts this year was that of Eric Bonful, the well deserved winner of this years Professional Driver of the Year Award. Eric has been working at GreenTomatoCars – another of last nights award winners – for almost as long as they have been operating. It’s not just Eric’s popularity with the customers that makes him a winner, but what he does with his hard earned money.

Eric and his wife Comfort, set up and funded a community school in their home country of Ghana in 2006. They have worked hard and made many sacrifices to ensure the schools continued success, which now provides employment for 45 staff members and educates 400 pupils. To demonstrate their admiration of all the hard work Eric and comfort have put in, the QSI Award organiser chose Eric’s School as the ‘Charity of the Night’ and envelopes were provided on every table for donations.

There were so many people to reconnect with and make new acquaintances that the awards continue to be the best networking event for Chauffeurs and those in industry related professions.
